Committee Cliff Notes: Weekly Preview – Week of March 18, 2024

Here’s what to watch for from House Republican committees during the week:

Agriculture

On Wednesday, March 20, the Committee on Agriculture will hold a full committee hearing called "The Danger China Poses to American Agriculture."

Appropriations

On Wednesday, March 20, the Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education will hold a hearing called "Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Request for the Department of Health and Human Services."

On Wednesday, March 20, the Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development, and Related Agencies will hold a hearing called "Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Request for the Department of Energy."

On Wednesday, March 20, the Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies will hold an oversight hearing called "Quality of Life in the Military."

On Thursday, March 21, the Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration will hold a hearing called "Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Request for the Department of Agriculture."

On Thursday, March 21, the Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government will hold a budget and oversight hearing called "President Biden's Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Request and Economic Outlook."

Armed Services

On Wednesday, March 20, the Armed Services Committee will hold a full committee hearing called "U.S. Military Posture and National Security Challenges in the Indo-Pacific Region."

On Wednesday, March 20, the Subcommittee on Intelligence and Special Operations will hold a hearing called "U.S. Special Operations Forces and Command – Challenges and Resource Priorities for Fiscal Year 2025."

On Thursday, March 21, the Armed Services Committee will hold a full committee hearing called "U.S. Military Posture and National Security Challenges in the Greater Middle East and Africa."

On Thursday, March 21, the Subcommittee on Strategic Forces will hold a hearing called "FY25 Strategic Forces Posture."

On Friday, March 22, the Subcommittee on Cyber, Information Technologies, and Innovation will hold a hearing called "The Technology and AI Fight for 21st Century Operations in the Department of Defense."

Budget

On Thursday, March 21, the Budget Committee will hold a full committee hearing called "The President’s Fiscal Year 2025 Budget Request."
 
Education and the Workforce

On Wednesday, March 20, the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions will hold a hearing called "Examining the Policies and Priorities of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation."
 
Energy and Commerce

On Thursday, March 21, the Subcommittee on Health will hold a hearing called "Evaluating Approaches to Diagnostic Test Regulation and the Impact of the FDA’s Proposed Rule."

On Thursday, March 21, the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a hearing called "Timeout: Evaluating Safety Measures Implemented to Protect Athletes."

On Monday, March 18, the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations will hold a field hearing in Lebanon, Tennessee titled "Victims of Regulatory Overreach: How the SEC’s Climate Disclosure Rule Will Harm Americans."

On Wednesday, March 20, the Subcommittee on Capital Markets will hold a hearing titled "SEC Overreach: Examining the Need for Reform."

On Wednesday, March 20, the Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance will hold a hearing titled "The Characteristics and Challenges of Today’s Homebuyers."
